Kirnitzschtalbahn Bad Schandau - Lichtenhain waterfall

The Kirnitzschtalbahn is Germany's smallest tram company with only one line.

This meter-gauge railway accompanies the Kirnitzsch river for about 8 km on its course through the bizarre rocky world of the Elbe Sandstone Mountains from Bad Schandau to the Lichtenhain waterfall. For over 100 years the Kirnitzschtalbahn has been transporting hikers and tourists to their destinations, e.g. For example: Winterberg, Schrammsteine, Affensteine, Kuhstall or the Hinterhermsdorf locks.

Koenigstein Fortress

Distance from the guesthouse to Königstein Fortress approx. 7 kilometers, driving time approx. 15 minutes.

The Königstein Fortress sits enthroned 245 m above the Elbe, on a rock massif with up to 40 m high rock walls. Mentioned for the first time in 1241, it was a medieval border castle and later a prison for Johann Friedrich Böttcher, the inventor of white porcelain. A delightful tour along the fortress walls guarantees an impressive panoramic view of Saxon Switzerland.
